  From "The Lammon Tree": 1900 Geneva Co. Alabama Census: single in 1900. 1880 Alabama Soundex. Rachel Rebecca Lammon Thompson told Elmer Burns Lammon that her "daddy used to get mad at someone's putting an "s" to the name Lammon. She said that Duncan McColskey Lammons and his descendants use the "s" because Mamie wanted to use it. There were some people in Hartford named Sammons, and Mamie liked the sound of it and thought Lammon sounded better with an "s" on it." July 2000.
