- OBITUARY:
Harry Blaine "Peter" Gould, 84, of Athens, passed away on September 19. He was born March 7, 1937 in Athens to the late Jake Gould and Mary Jane (Lammons) Gould.
Once an architecture major, Peter Gould turned his hobby into an artful vocation: designing hand carved furniture. Working in Santa Fe from 1968 to 1996, his reputation as one of the finest makers of handcrafted pieces spread throughout the country and abroad. Peter brought his talents and workmanship back to Athens in 1996 and will most likely be remembered for the time he devoted to the Lake Athens Marina. Peter was diagnosed with Levy Bodies Disease in 2015 and moved to Zurich, Switzerland , where he spent the remainder of his days in the loving care of his family.
Throughout his lifetime and up until his last days, Peter woke up every morning with a smile on his face and the belief and desire to make a difference. Peter is remembered by all for his strong character, the sparkle in his eye, and his enduring smile.
He was preceded in death by brother Robert A. Gould. Survivors include his four children, Georgeana Gore and husband Larry of Cuba, New Mexico, Tamara Could of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Harry B. Gould, Jr. and wife Deborah of La Rue, and Alexandria Schindler and husband Alex of Zurich, Switzerland; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
A memorial will be held for Peter in Athens in October, to be discusses when and if, details to follow.
